Whether wandering mountain monasteries or cycling through the region’s watercolour scenery, this tour will take you down the road less travelled.

◆Visit the Great Wall of China at Mutianyu.
◆Walk the legendary grounds of Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City before an overnight train to Xi'an.
◆Arrive in Xi'an and take an orientation walk of the city before using free time to explore.
◆Enjoy an included visit to one of China’s greatest archaeological treasures — the Terracotta Warriors.
◆Enjoy free time to explore. Later, board an overnight train to Emei Shan.
◆Arrive in Emei Shan, one of the four sacred Buddhist mountains of China, and stay in a basic monastery.
◆Enjoy free time to hike in the area before another night in the remote monastery.

◆Continue the hike through Tiger Leaping Gorge. Typically, return to Lijiang at the end of the second day's trek.
◆Explore this ancient walled town on an orientation walk. Choose to visit the stunning 'Three Pagodas' or one of the local markets.

◆Travel by bus to Kunming and explore the Green Lake and local markets on an included city tour.
◆Spend the morning in Kunming before a flight to Guilin and bus to Yangshuo. Enjoy the next three days exploring the beautiful countryside around the Li River.

With some free time, opt to visit the Bell and Drum Towers and the vibrant Muslim Quarter with its lively market and Great Mosque. In the evening, opt for a feast at a local dumpling banquet. Central Xi'an is still enclosed by Ming Dynasty walls, which are a great place to view the city. An excellent option is to rent a bicycle and ride around the city on the top of the walls. Visit one of the parks or squares and watch the locals ballroom dance or practice tai chi in the morning.
