The adventure

With a landscape as diverse as Morocco, the transportation must be built to match. The simple pleasures of getting around are essential to this activity-heavy excursion into the desert kingdom: Mule treks into the Atlas Mountains, bike rides through ruggedly beautiful mountain passes, even a leisurely coastal walk to a campsite in the desert. But it’s not all tramping about in the dunes and hills; you’ll also have the chance to explore Essaouira, the fortified city on the Atlantic coast that was once a haven for pirates.

◆Arrive at any time.
◆Transfer to Ouirgane and take a mule ride up to Tasa Ouirgane.
◆Enjoy hiking through the olive groves and Berber hamlets in the Atlas Mountains. Visit ancient salt mines and view the traditional production of olive oil. Savour lunch with a local family.
◆Drive to the Anti-Atlas Mountains across the spectacular Tizi'n'Test pass. Stop on the way and visit the 12th-century Tin Mal Mosque. Cycle through painted blue rocks and rock formations around Tafraoute.
◆Cycle around the city of Tafraoute, before enjoying time to relax in the city.
◆Transfer to the Moroccan coastline south of Sidi Kaouki and then walk along the coast. Set up camp for the night on the beach.
◆Walk along the coast to Essaouira for a free afternoon of optional activities. There's plenty to do in the city – take to the surf or wander among the bustling souks.
◆Free morning in Essaouira, then transfer to Marrakech in the afternoon for a final evening to explore the famous Djemaa el Fna Square.
◆Depart at any time.
