The adventure

The only way to get around the multiple islands of the Galápagos is by boat, so why not add a few days on land to get the entire Galápagos experience? This extension tacks on additional land time to your Galápagos cruise in order to give you as full an adventure as possible. From snorkelling with sea lions to spotting reef sharks to volcano and lava field hikes, this trip makes your excursion to Darwin’s playground a complete experience from start to finish.

Day 1Transfer to the hotel and meet the local CEOGalapagosBe greeted by a G Adventures representative who will assist you in transferring from the Baltra airport by bus, ferry, and taxi to the hotel on Santa Cruz Island. The Galapagos Islands are located about 1,000km (620 mi) off the Pacific coast of South America. Long before Darwin arrived in the Galapagos, seafarers knew these isolated islands as home to some of the strangest and most wonderful wildlife imaginable, including birds that could swim but no longer fly, aquatic iguanas, dragon-like lizards left over from prehistoric times, and the giant Galapagos tortoises for which the islands were named. Covering nearly 5,000 sq km (3,100 sq mi), the Galapagos Islands are now a national park. The Galapagos National Park is the institution that controls the preservation of this environment, assisted by the Charles Darwin Research Station.
