The adventure

Located on the Tambopata River in the Peruvian Amazon, our exclusive G Lodge Amazon is comfortable and intimate. Enjoy excursions by expert naturalists to spot wildlife at nearby oxbow lakes and clay licks. Explore by canoe or on dry land trails, swim in the lodge’s cool stream, or strap on a harness and rope up to tree platforms for a bird’s eye view of the forest. Really experience the Amazon to the fullest by spending two nights camping in the jungle—get even closer to nature!

◆Arrive at the Puerto Maldonado airport and meet the naturalist guide to journey to the jungle lodge, spotting wildlife en route. Before dinner, head out for a night walk around the lodge.
◆Enjoy guided excursions led by expert naturalists to spot wildlife at nearby oxbow lakes and along jungle trails. Head upriver for an unforgettable camping experience.
◆Stake out the clay lick to witness the sights and sounds of the macaws and parrots feeding on the minerals and salts of the clay. Explore the area, hiking different trails, with the naturalist guide.
◆Return to the lodge and hike to an oxbow lake, rich in bird and aquatic life. In the evening, go searching for caiman (alligators) and other nocturnal animals by canoe along the Tambopata River.
◆After breakfast, return by canoe to Puerto Maldonado and transfer to the airport for departure.

Day 1Arrive at the Puerto Maldonado airport and meet…After a brief stop in town to store large luggage, drive to the pier and travel by covered motorized boat to the jungle lodge. En route, spot bird species typical of the local river and forest edge. The Tambopata Rainforest area holds the world record for the most bird sightings in one area. Local community members make up the majority of lodge staff, including multilingual naturalist guides. Take the opportunity to learn about the area’s rich flora and fauna and locals' extensive use of medicinal plants and other forest plant resources through traditional techniques for building, fishing, and hunting. Enjoy a welcome drink and orientation. Before dinner, head out for a night walk around the lodge grounds.

Day 2Enjoy guided excursions led by expert naturalists…After a morning excursion, return to the lodge for an early lunch and to pack an overnight bag for camping. Take a canoe upriver to the National Reserve and the area of Collpa de Guacamayos, the bird and mammal clay licks, in the hope of spotting dozens of colourful macaws and peccaries feeding. A team of naturalists, boat crew, and chefs will set up camp. Enjoy a hike around the area and opt for a refreshing dip in the cool river. Feast on a delicious meal by candlelight before turning in early for a pre-dawn start.
