The adventure

If you’re looking for the perfect combination of land and river, this adventure is for you. Once you’re on board our comfortable Amazon riverboat, you’ll experience a unique cruising experience — including exotic wildlife, local culture and more! But it doesn’t stop there — after the jungle, Machu Picchu awaits. The Lost City of the Incas will provide majestic ruins and striking views of the Peruvian mountain. Choose to take part in an optional one-day hike up the Inca Trail, or if you prefer something a little more relaxing, there’s always the chance to enjoy the train.

◆Arrive at any time. Arrival transfer included.
◆Fly to Cusco. Free time to shop and explore. Choose to pre-book the Cusco Cooking Class. Opt for a city tour, visit museums or archaeological sites.
◆Enjoy a full-day guided tour of the Sacred Valley. Stop at the G Adventures-supported women's weaving co-op before visiting a local pottery making community. Break for lunch at the G Adventures-supported Parwa community restaurant in Huchuy Qosco. After lunch, opt to head out on a hike to the Ollantaytambo storehouses and look out over the ruins. Or, wander around the cobblestone streets and visit a local Chicheria (corn beer bar).
◆Journey to Aguas Calientes and opt to visit the local hot springs and hit the market. Those who have purchased and pre-booked the '1-day Inca Trail' hike will disembark the train at 104km and trek to the Sun Gate for the first glimpse of Machu Picchu before re-joining the group at Aguas Calientes for the night.
◆Enjoy a guided tour of Machu Picchu. Opt to visit the Inca Bridge before returning to Cusco.
◆Enjoy a free day in Cusco. Active options include whitewater rafting, horseback riding, and mountain biking.
◆Take an early morning flight in order to board the boat for the afternoon. Enjoy two boat excursions and compare the vast difference of the jungle between the day and night. During free time relax on board the ship and soak up the natural beauty around.
◆Head out into the Pacaya Samiria Reserve on a boat excursion and search for monkeys, sloths, and macaws. In the afternoon, take a walk through the jungle and visit a local community to learn about their traditions.
◆Explore the town of Nauta before continuing to cruise down the Amazon River. In the afternoon enjoy a jungle walk and learn about medicinal plants, search for monkeys and keep an eye out for reptiles.

In the constantly changing Amazon we offer flexible itineraries, the naturalists onboard tailor each departure to the surroundings and water levels to ensure you get the most out of your Amazon adventure. ◆In the morning explore the shoreline by motorized skiff keeping your eyes out for birds, monkeys and sloths. Leave the peacefulness of the river behind en route stop at the manatee rescue centre before catching a flight back to Lima. Enjoy the evening in the city.

Meet the women and learn about traditional weaving and dyeing. Opt to pick up some handmade souvenirs directly from the women who made them. Once on board the ship, relax and soak in the natural beauty of the wild rainforest. Step out on deck to watch the riverbanks go by, and keep eyes peeled for wildlife such as grey and pink dolphins. Expert guides will lead jungle walks, give lectures, and point out unique species of bird and marine life as you explore the smaller tributaries of the river.
